2008 Salary and Stability Survey for U.S. Forensic Science Laboratories
Just 10 minutes will let us compile valuable information for you and your laboratory.
About the Survey
This is the first year for Crime Lab Report's Salary and Stability
Survey. Each October, we will publish an updated survey for crime
laboratory employees and managers. Our goal is to continuously evaluate
current salaries, potential for salary growth, and the organizational conditions
that influence salary growth and employee retention. We also solicit
information of interest to college graduates seeking employment in a crime
laboratory.
The following are some frequently asked questions:
Who can complete the survey?
Any scientist, technician, or manager within or superior to a forensic
science laboratory in the United States. Executives to whom forensic
laboratory directors report may complete the survey as well.
How long does it take to complete the
survey?
We expect that the survey will take 5 to 10 minutes to complete.
What kinds of information should I know
before I start the survey?
At a minimum, you should know your current annual salary or wages, past salary
history, and the primary contact information of your laboratory. You will
also be asked to enter your annual salary at the time you first began work in a
forensic science laboratory.
Will my responses be kept private?
Yes they will. At no time will your identity be made known.
Laboratories seeking a summary of responses from their employees may purchase a
summary report for $135; however, individual responses will not be made
available under any circumstance. There is no risk to complete this survey
completely and honestly.
When will you publish the results?
We will publish the results in March 2009. The data will be presented in
an organized report suitable for presentation to a Human Resources Department.
Is there any cost to receive a copy of the
final report?
No there isn't. The report will be sent to all Crime Lab Report
subscribers and will be posted at our website.
